New Setup

.
The other day I thought it'd be cool to go get my old Panasonic CRT and hook it up and run it in along side my current monitor, and have dual screens. I had always been able to do so, I just never had the room for a second monitor, and I also never took the time to go buy a VGA to DVI connector to hook a second screen to my 9600 XT.

So I decided to clear out the top part of my desk, move my setup around, and went and bought a VGA to DVI connector ($10 bucks at Future Shop). I had to do some cable manipulation, but I made all the cable reach to where they needed to go. After a few quick setting changes, my second screen was up and running in no time! :D

It's actually really great! It pretty much doubles my screen real estate. I'm finding it really handy for doing homework. I have Word running on my primary screen, then all my info on the other, or just have my assignment in front of me, and have Winamp and MSN running on the second screen. It's pretty neat.

The only down side of this whole thing, is that having a second screen running is putting a lot more strain on my computer... It has to process twice as much screen info than before. However... I'm not noticing a significant performance loss. When I want to "game" or do something CPU intensive I will simply disable the second screen, and go back to single screen. Done and done.

AND, if I really want to get "crazy" I whip out my laptop, and run an application called MaxiVista, (Which allows you to create the machine that it is running on to operate as yet another screen) and I can have triple screens running! HAHA! This really doesn't serve much of a purpose for me in an everyday sense, but it may come in handy one day... Plus running a Multi-screen setup is BA in my books!

Here's a couple pictures I snapped of my new setup:

Hey Ya Cover (Acoustic)

.
I just came across this video on SSB that someone posted of some guy doing an acoustic cover of Outkast's Hey Ya. I think it's really great! I think he did a really great job on the song and I'd much rather listen to this version over the original. Have a look:

Update

.
Well... I've got nothing.

I haven't really been up to too much lately, other than homework and studying, and I don't have any overly interesting content to share with you...

But perhaps hilarity will ensue this coming weekend while up to some type of high jinx...

If all else fails, if the weather is nice, I plan on putting my rim stripes on my bike. So at least I will have some pictures to share.

In the meantime just remember... Kent's watching, learning, and judging...

Always... :|

Erika's Birthday/St. Patrick's Day Weekend

.
This past weekend, I took yet another trip up to Calgary. I didn't really have the time or money to do so...but it was Erika's Birthday and there were St Patrick Day plans...so I was going to find a way to justify my trip one way or another. Plus, I have yet to have a shitty time while I'm up there so it was pretty much carved in stone that I was going.

As for most things I do, I did not have a plan of action. I Decided at about 12 the night before that I was actually going to go...woke up late for my one and only Friday class...dragged ass there. Then decided I should put a few things together and hit the road. Of course I had to grab a green shirt for Saturday night and swing by Super Store to get cheap booze! (Always thinking of ways to save a penny or 2)

Now, you'd think by now I'd know how to get to Calgary and know how to get where I need to go...But of course that is not the case. This time I took a different way than I usually go. I planned on going into the city on Deerfoot, then to 16th Ave and then straight to SAIT. Now as I'm in the city, I double check on directions... from an unnamed patron... In the message, I was told to ext left. (This made perfect sense after the fact...there was just a communication error) However I thought that was odd, seeing how you rarely ever exit off something to the left...but seeing how the message stated "Hell ya" I thought that sounded pretty confident. Now it's rush hour, of course, when I get into the city. So every lane is packed solid, and we are going about 10 kph. By the time I see the exit (TO THE RIGHT) for 16th, it's already much too late... So I continue on my way...wishfully thinking maybe there is...another...magic exit to 16 Ave...HAHA. But no no... the next exit I see takes me to none other than The Calgary International Airport.

By now I'm kinda pissed. I'm somewhat "frazzled", I'm sitting at the fucking airport, I have to pee like it's nobodies business, and my cell phone decides it doesn't want to work anymore. They could hear everything I was screaming into the phone...but I couldn't hear them...Rebecca got an ear full with that little situation...HAHA.

Anyway, I find my bearings, get on 16th, and finally get to SAIT. I chill with Rebecca for a bit, then end up heading to the movie 300 (Epic... enough said.) with Mitch and Adam, and a counterfeit movie pass...worked like a charm ;)

The rest of the night was pretty chill. Went to U of C for a bit, ate my gross Subway, then ended up back at SAIT for the night. Erika decided it'd be best if she had a "slumber party" with Rebecca and I. Though they get a nice soft bed, blankets, comforter, and pillows...while I get to sleep in a bag on the concrete floor...

That morning I woke up to "FUCK YOU EVERYBODY, LETS PLAY ZOOBEY ZOOBEY! HAHAHAHA!" (I believe it is a drinking game chant or something...whatever it was I didn't want to hear it at 9 AM...) there was no turning over after that. I was up. Whether I liked it or not. What do you do THAT early in Calgary when you wake up, you ask? Well you go eat McDonald's of course. And so we did.

After eating we head back to SAIT, and the girls start getting ready to go out...Which I found odd because it was like noon...But whatever. I'm a guy. It took me 5 minutes to get ready for my graduation. So off all the girls went, Mitch was with his parents, Adam was sleeping, Jared wasn't coming 'till later...So I didn't have a whole lot to do. So I started drinking. HAHA. Hey...it was St. Patrick's Day... don't judge me. Plus I had a lot of booze to get through before we went to the bar, so I was pretty much obligated to start drinking that early...if not earlier.

The day goes on. A bunch of people show up, and we are all hanging out drinking waiting until the magic time someone decides it's time to go. Now getting to Schanks (The bar of choice for the night) didn't seem like an easy task. The C-Train didn't go that far, no one was going to drive, and a taxi was out of the question on St. Patrick's Day. However, we figured out a plan that involved walking, running, a train, and a bus...which worked absolutely perfect. (Nice work to who ever figured that all out BTW) So we all start walking to the C-Train station, and as we get there...I realize that I've forgotten something...that seemed like the most important thing to have at the time...Oh, and Adam and I forgot to bring our vodka. From what we knew at the time, we had about 5 minutes to RUN back to Rez, get up 10 floors, grab what we needed, get back down, RUN back to the train station, figure out where we needed to go, and get on the train. (This wasn't the case as you will see)

Having a drunken false sense of...everything, I figure we can do it. So we run...and run, and run. And about not even 5 minutes before this, I decide it would be a genius idea to crack open my 2-6, and chug as much as I could 30 seconds before we leave. That way, it'll hit me right at the bar, and I'll be good and pissed... and not having to buy a drink for a few hours, hence, saving money (Again I revisit saving a penny or 2)

We get the vodka, and start running. With that much straight hard booze in me, and my heart pumping as hard as it was, It hit me hard...and fast! I was officially pissed! We manage to run away from the C-Train security guard, and find the platform, and everyone on it. Except there was one problem...we were on the wrong side of the tracks...and a 10 feet fence. HAHA. No worries! I'm drunk! I can do anything.

JUMP! CUT! RIP! BLEEDING....but I'm over!

I manage to cut my hand in a very odd triangular pattern, and rip a nice sized hole in my jeans. YES! But the important thing was that we made it, just in time! Right? Not quite. There was "Major delays" for the C-Trains...and there was at least a 20 minute wait...So all that running, jumping and looking like an idiot was for nothing. I could have walked backwards with my eyes closed and made it there in time. But whatever, I'm in high spirits. I'm tired as shit, bleeding, and ready for bed..but good to go.

Jump forward to the when we actually get to the bar...

We finally got to Schanks, and the night begins! Order drinks, food, play games, go bowling...(Bars with bowling alleys are officially the shit!) Good fun. Now I don't remember things in a lot of detail from here on out. I guess it was regular bar stuff...meeting people, talking, hitting on anything, and drinking... I remember pictures...lots of pictures were being taken, and I probably tipped that bathroom attendant about 50 bucks...

Because got started drinking so early, and got there at like 6... by 1 o'clock we were ready to take off... Lots of people had already left, and we were ready to do the same. I wasn't too sure what our plan for getting back to SAIT was...but luckily for us, Mitchell decided he'd show up...HAHA. Shitty timing for him I guess, but great for me. With everyone leaving, he just gave us a lift back. Free of charge ;)

We all hung out for a little longer at SAIT, but by then I was sobering up, and wasn't really in a great mood. So we decided to leave...before "garbage dick" wanted to fight me. Sooo back to my bag on the floor for the night. Had a good drunk talk, then sleep. In the morning. I was awoken much too early by Adam...i think...calling my cell, which, by the sounds of things almost stopped Rebecca's heart. I slept a bit more, then we went and hung out with Tara and Erika for a few minutes, then I took off back to the LB.

It was another genius weekend. My combination of friends up there, as well as meeting new people is great. I always have a blast!

So I guess I'll have to come back up on Thursday...HAHA! (We shall see...)

I realize this post is already massive, and if anyone has read this far...I will be amazed, and I congratulate you, (It's either this or homework so...) but here are a few pictures from the weekend.

New Moblog

.
So it's been awhile since I've had a moblog. After TextAmerica turned lame, I've been without a place to post camera phone pictures. But I recently figured out that Flickr allows you to send camera phone pictures straight from your phone to your account. So I've made a new account solely for camera phone pictures. I still have and am using my other Flickr account, but that one will be more for better pictures I take and whatnot... So I am going to give this a try for awhile and see how it goes!

You can find my new Moblog at:

Enjoy!

P.S.

Also, take notice to the link to the right in the sidebar that'll take you straight to the Moblog.

A Really Good Song

Story of the Year - Sidewalks

I've been on a SotY run here for awhile...it's all I am listening to. This is one of their slower ones, and it's a great song.

Happy

.
I smiled for the first time in awhile... I went riding for the first time this season yesterday after class. It was awesome. I've needed that for awhile now. Nothing compares to riding. The BEST thing to relax, and get away from everything! You don't have you worry about school, money, people in your life, or life itself. It's "freedom"

The weather was kinda crappy, and the bike didn't have collision insurance on it yet...(Shhh) but I just had to take it for a quick spin. I didn't get any real riding done...Just kind of around my neighborhood. I took it slow for the first few minutes, but after I got the feeling back I just had to give it one quick twist, and rip for a second or two! Instant high... I'm not sure how I lasted that long without that feeling and I am glad it is finally back.

My motorcycle is extremely important to me. It is now what makes me happy in my life, and is what I most look forward to. That may sound stupid to many of you, but it's the trust. I am very excited for this riding season to say the least!

What Time Is It!?

.
My computer says it's 3:40 AM, all my clocks are telling me it's 3:42 AM...my cell phone is telling me it's 4:36 AM and my post time stamp is telling me it's 4:45 AM! I'm scared and confused.

It's this damn DLS time.... What a stupid idea...

+1 Saskatchewan!

Putting Things in Perspective...

.
There are a lot of times in life when you take things for granted. Be it money, friends, family, what-have-you... And you never realize you are doing it until these things are taken from you. And when they are taken away, you come to see how important they really were... I've had plenty of things taken away from me over this last year and it isn't much fun. This is true for almost everything in life, but for now, I am talking about life itself.

On March 4th, 2007 a fellow Sask Sport Bike member, and rider was killed in a snowmobile accident at the age of 24. His name was Chris Hood. I did not personally know "Hoodie", other than from his contributions to SSB, but his accident got me thinking about some stuff...

While reading everyone's reactions to the accident, I kept coming across statements like "Chris and I were having a beer just the other day...Never thought that'd be the last" and "Wow...I just saw him the other day". A lot of these people never got to say goodbye, or tell him how they felt, because they had no idea something like this would ever happen. But that's the reality of it all, accidents like this can happen anytime, anyplace to anyone. And if they do, would you be at peace with the person that may have been involved? I know wouldn't be with a lot of people. I know I don't say "I love you" as much as I used to to anyone, or even something as small as "See you later, have a good day".

This post initially was going to be a rant about MSN...and how people get off the hook just because they are not physically there. I think a conversation is a conversation. If you're online, you can be spoken to, and if you are spoken to...speak back! If I walked up to you and started talking, I should hope you'd talk back, and not just leave and go do something else. Or if you're talking and leave...say your leaving! This has been pissing me off since the day I downloaded MSN.

I know I'm guilty of doing it as well, but I try not to. However...I severely digress...

Back to my original point... All I am tying to say in all of this is that after hearing the news of Chris' accident, it kind of put things into perspective. You never know what life is going to throw at you, so try not to take what you have for granted, and don't hold things back from people if something is on your mind...You might not get another chance to tell them.

Take care everyone.

"All because of you,

Not the kind with wings,
No, not the kind with halos,
The kind that bring you home,
When home becomes a strange place.

All you have to do is shout it out."

The Hair...Back in '04

.
HAHA! Just being bored tonight and flipping through some old pictures and I came across this one from the summer of 2004 while in Whitefish with Mitch. Sportin' a FULL head of hair there... Back in the good days. Haha. A rather genius picture on my part I must say

...Stupid little girl... WTF is her problem?!

DIY Soft Light Tent

.
Well, I was on my Spring Break last week (Woooo Spring Break!!!) ...Not quite. I had a little over a week off from school, and had absolutely nothing to do on it. I was in Shaunavon for a few days, but other than that, I didn't do a thing. I don't know many people here in the city, and the ones I do were either on holidays, or had gone back home. Unfortunately for me, my home is the city...so I was SOL.

I was bored to say the least. However, I tried to keep busy...

I was doing my daily morning web rounds (Digg, Engadget, Etc) and I came across a tutorial on how to build your own light box for under $15 on Digg. A light box is just a box used to diffuse light on a object to take a macro picture of it without casting a shadow. Now I thought that was pretty cool...but then thought "Screw $15...I can do this for free" And so my day project began.

The only reason my light box was free was because I made it with stuff around the house that I could dig up.

For my FREE light tent I used the following materials:
  • - A Tropicana orange juice box
  • - White translucent fabric. I used a pillow case I found in the laundry room. HEHE...Shhh!
  • - White paper
  • - Exacto Knife
  • - Tape/scissors/ruler
  • - Lamps with a bulb with a full light spectrum(White light). I used lamps with halogen bulbs.
  • - White primer paint. (I used paint instead of lining the whole box in paper. Paint was faster so...
It turned out pretty well actually. The pillow case fabric doesn't work as well as I thought it would. It put too much of a orangish tint to the light, which I was trying to eliminate. However if you mess around with aperture and F-stop a bit you can make it a little better. Overall I was pretty impressed with my project. It kept me busy, and I had a fun making it.

Here are some shots taken of and inside my homemade soft light tent. :)

(Mitch edited this pictures for me. This is the look I was initially trying to get from the light box.)
